AI Isn't The Threat - Your Calendar Is

What do I stop doing to make space for AI?

I'm writing a lot these days. A-lot-a-lot.
Thousands of words per week, in fact.

New ideas, a shifting tone, maybe even a changing style.

All those words will come together in print for the new year.
This blog? It’s the spillover.
I try to choose the most topical thing for you.
Sometimes, it's more topical for me.

Let me know if this one lands.

AI isn’t replacing you. But something’s gotta give.

The fear that AI is coming for your job as a Broker?
Overblown.

What’s real, and far more pressing, is this:
What will you replace in your life to have the time to build something useful re AI?

Because AI won’t replace Mortgage Brokers.
But Mortgage Brokers who leverage AI will replace those who don’t.

That idea isn’t new.
You’ve heard it from me before.

And you've listened.

Six months ago, maybe 5% of an events audience was using AI daily.
Now? Closer to 95%.

But the edge isn’t in having the tool.
It’s in how you use it:
Strategically. Intentionally. Consistently.

The real challenge? Time.

When do invest 75 minutes to watch THIS tutorial on building a next-level underwriting review tool using Notebook LM?

Even with 90% of the work done, the pre-loaded lender data, the step-by-step guide, the question remains:

When do you build it?
Because that’s another 45 minutes.

And this is the real sticking point:
Not 'Will AI replace me?;
But 'What do I stop doing to make space for AI?'

AI is one more thing to learn, to implement, to refine.
And on the other side of that learning curve?
Efficiency.
Leverage.

AI should be your strategic partner—not your latest distraction.
So treat it like one.

Block time in your calendar.
Use it daily.
Use it wisely.

Build tools that matter—like an underwriting guide on steroids.
Capable of conversational scenario comparison.
Automate the grunt work.

And then double down on what clients value:
Judgment.
Trust.
Experience.

But none of this happens unless you stop something else to start with AI.
Not someday.
Today.

One more tool won’t change the game.
One better system will.
